Sunny Days Montessori School was first established in September 1994 and Ciara Casey, the current owner, took over the school in September 2009.

We run as a sessional Montessori school service along the normal school calendar year, and our classes have a daily and monthly routine with options for Summer Camps during July and August.

We operate 3 different classes;

  • Ducklings (from 8:45am to 11:45am)
  • Ladybirds (from 8:45am to 12:15pm)
  • Caterpillars (from 12:30pm to 3:30pm)

We are a Montessori school that incorporates many teaching philosophies like Highscope and respects the importance of play. We provide the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) scheme, the National Childcare Scheme (NCS), and also provide for fee paying childcare for those not eligible for either scheme.

We are registered with the HSE, the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY), and the Department of Education and Skills (DES); all of whom inspect us annually.

We are also registered with St. Nicholas Montessori Ireland, the Association of Childcare Professionals, Barnardos, and we hold insurance with Arachas Insurance.

All our staff hold a minimum of Level 6 Childcare qualification with some staff members holding degrees, masters and many extra qualifications in special needs etc. All our staff are fully vetted and all hold first aid qualifications as well.

Meet Ciara

After training in a degree of Montessori Education from 1994-1997 in Cork, Ciara returned to her hometown in Kerry and ran the local Community Preschool for 7 years. She then went travelling abroad and on her return took out a lease to run a Montessori School in Bandon in Co. Cork for 8 years.

When she saw the opportunity to purchase Sunny Days Montessori back in 2009 she took it, as way back in 1994 in its first year she did a year’s work experience with the original owner/founder and loved the setup and working there.

She has been here running the school and teaching both morning and afternoon classes since.

Ciara holds a degree in Montessori Education and over the years has added much more to her qualifications through various studies and courses:
